Unit Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to carry out refuelling and fuel transfer operations as per relevant sections of Part D of the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV). The commercial vessel should be considered as operating within the coastal environment and include the transfer of fuel from one vessel to another while at sea.
Learning Outcomes
The member will be able to plan and carry out refuelling and fuel transfer operations on small commercial vessels according to safe practices.
Assessment
- A practical examination demonstrating how to plan for and carryout refuelling operations and respond to fuel spills.
- A written assessment addressing aspects of planning for refuelling and responding to emergency situations.
